Have any of you used "The Patriot" in any of your American History classes when covering the Revolutionary War? Does anyone know if it's been recommended for use by any curriculum/textbooks as supplementary material?

Pat-down searches

In January, S-L Security was called to a classroom because of a wallet missing from a girls purse. Security, male and female, searched everyone is class, including backpacks and each purse. The ACLU indicated in their letter that the students were frisked and patted down. That part I am not sure. I know S-L Security feels they have the right to do this, but I am not sure. My feeling is a need for suspicion before the search. Would a judge issue a warrant? I think not, but ......... Has this issue come up with MASSP that I can find some written opinions?

Age of Consent-

Gobles MS/HS is a combined 7-12 building, and we have always maintained that MS and HS students cannot date one another.

My question is about legal resources with regards to age of consent: what does the law say about different ages dating, and what are the different categories and considerations when it comes to different-age romances.

Also, does anybody have an effective policy on separating MS from HS?

Myspace

Has anyone dealt with the legality of having a student, who is in possession of school property, to show you their private Myspace page to track who/where they sent the school property to? Our admin team is split on this issue. The issues are: Are items sent over the Internet public domain? Is the “public” part of Myspace public domain and the “private” section not?

Online Policy/Early Graduation/Military

I have a few questions and would appreciate your responses.

Does anyone have an existing online policy for classes taken outside of
the regular school day schedule?

How many online credits do you accept?

Do you limit the number of online classes?

Do you allow for early graduation?

In what way do you work with the military in providing space/time for
recruiters to be available to meet with students? i.e. appointments
through counseling office, open forum in an auditorium setting, table
space in cafeteria during lunch, small group sign-ups, etc.....

We currently provide table space in the cafeteria.
