School Aid Budgets Clear Appropriations

The 2008-09 budgets for K-12 schools and the Department of Corrections cleared the House Appropriations Committee, receiving few changes from their subcommittee versions. Under the K-12 budget, the per-pupil foundation allowance would go up by a minimum of $55 per student and a maximum of $110 per student.
Please note: There are significant differences between the House and the Senate version of 08-09 School Aid. The numbers in the House version are there for bargaining purposes. My point, don't "go to the bank" with anything that is in the House version of the School Aid that came out of committee.
The Conference Committee to resolve differences with begin meeting next week. There the real numbers and actions will be finalized.
