U.S. Dept. of Ed Releases Uniform Graduation Rate Calculation Regulations
U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings issued the long-awaited final regulations on Title I of the No Child Left Behind Act, which include a requirement that states use a uniform calculation for determining every high school’s graduation rate.
Michigan is ahead of the federal requirement. Michigan began to use this formula this year for reporting the graduation cohort and dropout rate through the Center for Educational Performance and Information(CEPI).
Eight out of 10 Michigan Schools Made Adequate Yearly Progress Last Year
LANSING--Eight out of 10 public schools in Michigan made Adequate Yearly Progress this past school year despite a big jump in the goals,
according to the Michigan Department of Education.
The state’s EducationYES! Report Cards were released publicly today for
Michigan elementary, middle, and high schools, along with the annual
report on each school’s Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as required by
the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law.
